    New Single: One Good Day

Fizzy Veins - One Good Day

Some days don’t change your life.

The bus arrives on time. Someone messages back. The corner shop still has your favourite snack. The kettle behaves itself. Somehow everything simply… works.

One Good Day is the new single from Fizzy Veins, finding optimism in the smallest of places without pretending life has suddenly become perfect.

Available 1 May on all streaming platforms and through the Bard Records store.

    Different Day Arrives Today

    Fizzy Veins - Different Day

Following Same Streets, Fizzy Veins returns with Different Day, a full-length collection exploring modern British life through everyday observations.

There are no dramatic plot twists here.

Just supermarket yellow stickers. Friends’ new flats. Bus windows. Corner shops. Late replies. Queues. Payslips. The last biscuit on the plate.

Sometimes the smallest moments tell the biggest stories.

    Different Day

    Most of life happens
    between the memorable bits.

Different Day is a collection of songs about the moments that usually go unnoticed. Bus journeys, supermarket bargains, old friends, evening walks and familiar routines become quiet reminders that everyday life doesn’t need to be extraordinary to matter.

Different Day finds meaning in familiar places, quiet routines and the people who drift through them. These songs don’t search for life-changing moments. They simply pay attention to the ones we usually forget.

  • Night Flicker

    Night Flicker

    FIZZY VEINS

    Every town looks different
after everyone else has gone home.

Night Flicker closes Different Day with one last walk through familiar streets. Nothing remarkable happens. The lights are the same, the route is unchanged, but the quiet of the evening makes everyday places feel briefly unfamiliar before morning arrives again.

    Night Flicker

Fizzy Veins • Night Flicker • Different Day
    WORDS

TV light flickers through half-closed blinds
    Footsteps pass, someone heading home
Someone’s on the phone, arguing again
    I keep walking like I haven’t heard

Old cinema doors, faded posters peeling
Rain hangs round though it’s stopped now
Catch my face in the shop glass for a second
Look away quick, not in the mood for it

    Another shortcut, same old streets
    Nothing waiting, nothing chasing me

    Night flicker, windows glow
Places I’ve walked a thousand times before
    Nothing special, nothing new
    Just feels different walking through

Someone’s playing music too loud upstairs
Hands in pockets, hood pulled tight
Taxi rolls past without slowing down
A stray cat darts across the lane

    Night flicker, windows glow
Places I’ve walked a thousand times before
    Nothing special, nothing new
    Just feels different walking through

    Night flicker, windows glow
Places I’ve walked a thousand times before
    Nothing special, nothing new
    Just feels different walking through

  • The Last Biscuit

    The Last Biscuit

    FIZZY VEINS

    Everyone wants it.
Nobody wants to be the one who takes it.

The Last Biscuit celebrates the gentle awkwardness of everyday politeness. One biscuit sits untouched while conversations drift around it, proving that even the smallest decisions can become surprisingly complicated when everyone’s trying to be considerate.

Fizzy Veins • The Last Biscuit • Different Day
    WORDS

    Still one left

    Sunday afternoon, kettle’s on again
Someone’s halfway through a story they’ve already told
    Packet’s empty, plate’s nearly clear
Just one lonely biscuit sitting there
    Everyone’s seen it, nobody bites
Conversation carrying on like it’s out of sight
Funny little rule that nobody wrote
    Still somehow everybody knows

    Go on then

    No, you have it

    Honestly

    I’m alright

The last biscuit, still on the plate
Been there twenty minutes now, just waiting
    Everybody wants it, nobody moves
Like there’s something left to prove
Go on, have it, don’t mind me
    We’ve all done this silently
One little biscuit, five grown adults
Making it far more awkward than it needs to be

Tea’s gone cold, coats are on
Somebody says they’d best be gone
    Still that biscuit, holding court
Like it’s waiting for majority support
Dave just shrugs and picks it up
Takes one bite, then drains his cup
Whole room laughs, spell is gone
    Conversation carries on

    Would’ve gone soft by tomorrow

    That would’ve been a waste

The last biscuit, gone at last
Never thought it’d be the hardest task
Funny the things that we all do
Just because we’re trying to be polite
    Next Sunday, same old place
Same old kettle, same old faces
Leave one biscuit on the plate
We’ll probably do it all again

    Should’ve just taken it

    Some evenings
    ask nothing from you.

Late Reply is about letting time move at its own pace. Coffee grows cold, ideas drift across the page and messages can wait until tomorrow. Sometimes doing nothing in particular is exactly what the day needed.

    WORDS

Messages left on read, I shrug it off
Room dim, rain tapping the window
I make a coffee that’s gone cold before I sip
Notes on a pad, scribbles of nothing urgent

    Clock ticks, slow and steady
Neighbour’s music muffled through the wall
    I stare at a page, words half-formed
    Nothing pressing, nothing new

    Time drifts, quiet and consistent
    The city’s settled, I don’t

    Late reply, doesn’t matter tonight
I’ll sit with the space, hold it light
Late reply, no rush to move
    Quiet rhythm guides the mood

Curtains barely moving in the breeze
    Streetlight leaking through the blinds
    I hum along with a half-remembered tune
Let the hours pass at their own pace

Pages turn, ideas scattered in lines
    Shopping list beside old notes
A gentle sway, a small sigh escapes
No one’s watching, no need to rush

    Late reply, doesn’t matter tonight
I’ll sit with the space, hold it light
Late reply, no rush to move
    Quiet rhythm guides the mood

Late reply, let the evening roll
    Nothing waiting, nothing told
Late reply, I’ll just stay here
    No rush going anywhere

    Corner Shop Run

    FIZZY VEINS

Some places never make the guidebooks.
    They’re still worth knowing.

Corner Shop Run is a tribute to the ordinary neighbourhood shop that’s always there when you need it. Familiar greetings, forgotten shopping lists and late-night essentials become small moments of comfort that quietly stitch everyday life together.

    Corner Shop Run

Fizzy Veins • Corner Shop Run • Different Day
    WORDS

Keys in my pocket, hoodie half-zipped
Quick run out, not planning a trip
Door swings shut, that heavy click
Back in five, that’s the whole thing

Fluorescent lights hit soon as I’m in
Fridge units buzzing near the drinks
    Grab what’s there, don’t overthink
    Same three aisles, same routine

    Cashier glances, half-aware
I nod once like I’m always there

Corner shop run, quick in, quick out
Didn’t say much, didn’t need to now
Same old place, same low buzz
    In and out, that’s enough

Crisps in one hand, drink in the other
Queue’s one deep, could be worse, whatever
    Card declines—nah, second try better
    No one reacts, standard pressure

Receipt I don’t take, bin by the door
Cold air hits like it did before
Step back out to the same street noise
Whole thing done in under four

Corner shop run, quick in, quick out
Didn’t say much, didn’t need to now
Same old place, same low buzz
    In and out, that’s enough

Corner shop run, quick in, quick out
Didn’t say much, didn’t need to now
Same old place, same low buzz
    In and out, that’s enough

  • Payslip Reality

    Payslip Reality

    FIZZY VEINS

    Life doesn’t always move forward.
    Sometimes it simply keeps moving.

Payslip Reality is about the unnoticed routines that quietly shape everyday life. Numbers on a page, familiar tasks and another month slipping past become reminders that even ordinary days have their own quiet value.

    Reduced To Clear

Fizzy Veins • Payslip Reality • Different Day
    WORDS

Envelope lands, numbers in quiet lines
Rent is paid, the rest just drifts behind
Clock ticks soft, steady in the room
    Nothing pressing, just the afternoon

Weeks merge into one long stretch
Trying to keep up, doing what I can

Stacks arrive and leave, payslip reality
    Counting days, keeping it quietly
Numbers sitting there in the frame
Life moves on, mostly the same

Stacks arrive and leave, nothing really new
    Counting days, seeing it through
Numbers sitting there in the frame
Life moves on, stays the same

Paper sorted, small tasks ticking by
Tea left sitting, I don’t question why
Moments pass, small wins in view
Nothing major, but it gets me through

Evening comes, room stays the same
Numbers stacked, different day, same frame
    Nothing shifts, nothing breaks apart
Just steady days, quietly on repeat

Stacks arrive and leave, payslip reality
    Counting days, taking it quietly
Numbers sitting there in the frame
Life moves on, mostly the same

Stacks arrive and leave, nothing really new
    Counting days, seeing it through
Numbers sitting there in the frame
Life moves on, stays the same

    Reduced To Clear

    FIZZY VEINS

Not every good decision is planned.
Some of them cost ninety pence.

Reduced To Clear finds quiet satisfaction in life’s accidental victories. Yellow stickers, unexpected meals and changing plans become small reminders that not every worthwhile moment has to be expensive or important.

    Reduced To Clear

Fizzy Veins • Reduced To Clear • Different Day
    WORDS

    Only came in for milk

Walked straight past the fruit and veg
Yellow stickers caught my eye instead
    Chicken Kiev’s for ninety pence
Didn’t need ’em, made perfect sense
Bloke beside me reached as well
Bit of an awkward supermarket duel
He smiled first, I let him win
Found garlic bread in the next bin

    Didn’t save a fortune
    Didn’t need to
Still feels like a victory somehow

Reduced to clear, yellow little square
Wasn’t on the list but it’s coming home with me
Spend a fiver trying to save a quid
Funny how that always seems to be
    Reduced to clear
    That’s the deal
    Tomorrow’s tea
    Was decided by a sticker

Three yoghurts I’d never normally buy
Cheesecake marked down, couldn’t ask why
Date says eat it all tonight
Looks like that’s my evening sorted right
Text my mate”Fancy popping round?””Only if you’ve got food going spare”
Didn’t plan it half an hour ago
    Now we’re arguing over profiteroles

    Suppose that’s life
    Making plans around whatever’s left

Reduced to clear, yellow little square
Didn’t come in looking for a bargain
    Walked in after one thing
Walked out with half the chilled aisle
    Reduced to clear
    Can’t complain
    See what they’ve got
    Same time tomorrow

    Still forgot the milk

  • Mates New Flat

    Mates New Flat

    FIZZY VEINS

    Success can be strangely complicated.
Especially when it belongs to someone you love.

Mate’s New Flat explores the quiet mix of pride, envy and friendship that can exist at the same time. It’s a song about celebrating someone else’s milestone while quietly measuring it against your own life, and realising that those comparisons never quite tell the whole story.

    Mates New Flat

Fizzy Veins • Mates New Flat • Different Day
    WORDS

    Oi

    You seen his new place?

    Proper nice, innit

He’s got a dishwasher now, actual plates that match
No more eating Pot Noodle straight from the plastic batch
Balcony big enough for two chairs and a plant
Says the view’s not bad when the weather’s decent for once
I’m happy for him, swear down, no cap
But my studio still smells like damp and the neighbour’s cat
He offers me a beer from the fridge that lights up
I take it, crack it, try not to add it up

We sit there taking the piss like nothing’s changed
But something small shifted and it feels strange

Mate’s new flat, looks proper smart
Got plants and a sofa that didn’t come from Argos
I’m buzzing for you, course I am
Just makes my little box feel a bit more like a scam
    Mate’s new flat — yeah it’s sound
Proud of you bruv, pass another round
We’ll still be here when the novelty fades
Laughing about it in ten years’ time anyway

He’s talking about saving for a deposit next year
I’m still arguing with the council about mould on the gear
Says his job’s alright, pays a bit more than before
I nod, scroll my phone, check my overdraft once more
We put on the old playlist from sixth form days
Laugh at how we thought we’d be sorted by this age
He puts his arm round me, says “your time’s coming mate”
I smile and think: yeah, maybe, but not at this rate

I wouldn’t swap him for the world, that’s facts
Just sometimes it stings a little when you’re looking back

Mate’s new flat, looking proper smart
I’m made up for you, straight up from the heart
We’ll still be here when the novelty fades
Laughing about it… same as always, mate

    Proper nice though

    Seriously
