Some bad ideas
are better left running.
Backseat Anthem catches two people in one of those nights where getting anywhere stops being the point. The car barely works, the petrol is running out and there is absolutely no plan worth mentioning, but for once none of that needs fixing. It is Vesura at their most carefree: choosing the wrong direction deliberately and enjoying it while it lasts.

Keys in my hand, engine won’t turn
Laugh it off like I never learn
You kick the dash, say “try again”
We’re already late, we’re not going in
Backseat anthem, windows down
Drive it nowhere out of town
No plan, no map, no end
Just don’t make me stop again
Petrol low but we push it far
You film it all from the passenger side
Street signs blur, we don’t read them
We don’t need to justify
Backseat anthem, windows down
Drive it nowhere out of town
No plan, no map, no end
Just don’t make me stop again
If it breaks we’ll leave it there
Walk it off like we don’t care
Say it once, don’t say it twice
This is bad but it feels right
Backseat anthem, loud and clear
Didn’t think we’d make it here
No brakes, no slow, no bend
Don’t make me stop again
