About this release
The Adjustment Period is the debut album from PRE, a fictional entertainment corporation presented through sixteen interconnected songs, advertisements and public information broadcasts. Blending art-punk, new wave, synth-pop and industrial electronics, the album constructs a world where comfort, entertainment and consumer convenience gradually become systems of behavioural adjustment. Combining satirical humour with unsettling optimism, The Adjustment Period blurs the line between music, advertising and corporate messaging until they become impossible to separate.
Background
The Adjustment Period began with an accidental discovery. An experiment with retro-futuristic synthesisers and the synthetic optimism of 1980s pop quickly evolved into something stranger, recalling television idents, shopping-centre announcements, corporate training videos and theatrical new wave. Inspired by the idea of fictional advertisements appearing between songs, the project naturally expanded into an interconnected world of invented products, services and public broadcasts, all produced by the multinational corporation PRE. Rather than telling a single story, the album immerses the listener in a society where every inconvenience has a branded solution, every emotion has been optimised and every moment of attention has become part of the entertainment experience.
