Keep everything predictable
and nothing gets a chance to return.
Routine Echo is about using the ordinary mechanics of a day as a form of control. The same route, the same habits and the same carefully maintained boundaries leave little room for unwanted thoughts to get in. It works, mostly. The problem is that whatever the routine is keeping out hasn’t actually gone anywhere.

Same time… same steps
Wake up, same side of the bed
Same thoughts, nothing new said
Coffee goes cold in my hand
I don’t change anything I planned
Keep it tight, keep it small
Don’t think past it at all
If I don’t drift, I don’t slip
So I stay inside it
I keep it straight, I keep it clean
No space for what it used to mean
I lock it down, I don’t let it move
Nothing gets through
Routine echo… step by step
(Oh-oh) nothing left
Same route, same turns in place
I don’t look up, don’t change pace
Phone lights up, I let it die
No need to check or ask why
If it stays out of sight
Then it stays out of mind
Every line I draw holds tight
If I don’t rewrite
I keep it straight, I keep it clean
No space for what it used to mean
Routine echo… step by step
(Oh-oh) nothing left
Same route, same turns in place
I don’t look up, don’t change pace
Phone lights up, I let it die
No need to check or ask why
If it stays out of sight
Then it stays out of mind
Every line I draw holds tight
If I don’t rewrite
I keep it straight, I keep it clean
No space for what it used to mean
I lock it down, I don’t let it move
Nothing gets through
Routine echo… step by step
(Oh-oh) nothing left
If I stop for even a second
It comes back in
So I don’t stop
I keep it straight, I keep it clean
Still feel it under everything
I lock it down, I hold it still
But it leaks through
Routine echo… (tight loop)
Same steps
